Coargazal Tunnel and Gothic Arch

The excursion begins in Puerto del Boyar, and runs through the Sierra del Endrinal, in the heart of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. It is a linear route that enters the beautiful limestone enclave of the Betic System in the province of Cádiz. The route and environment through which we walk is very rewarding, not only for the views that we are contemplating, but for the curious rock formations that we find, along with magical corners that contain true charm. Places full of lapiaces and we imagine what the place would be like hundreds of millions of years ago when the limestone bottoms of the Tethys Sea were and how they rose with the collision of the European and African tectonic plates. The best moment of our excursion is the arrival at the Gothic Arch, a limestone formation of great beauty, fissured, forming a puzzle closing the arch. The beauty of this natural formation, alien to any human construction is incredible. Perhaps humans were inspired by it to create the Arab semicircular arch that revolutionized Christian architecture, creating the Gothic architectural style..
