This enclave of 6,5 hectares is part of an extensive protected archaeological area of two million square meters, which includes the town of La Dehesa, THE HYPOGEO OF THE SUN AND THE MOON, and the necropolis of the peaks and the quarries. These historical vestiges reflect the various relationships that man has maintained with this environment over the centuries. The oldest remains date from the end of the III Millennium B.C., With evidence of Copper Age Cabañas. The place was abandoned and reoccupied in the seventh century B.C., becoming a walled city inhabited until the third century B.C., suffering several remodeling and constructions of additional walls. Posteriorly, It was briefly inhabited during the medieval Islamic era with an Alquería Almohade in the twelfth century.
