El Palancar and Charco Redondo reservoir

16 March 2024-10:00 AM - 1:30 PM

The beginning of this trail leads to a gall oak forest where there are old restored homes of the local inhabitants., known as moriscos. Humidity is present in some sections of the route, Even the stones are covered with ferns and vines. From this natural viewpoint, We have wonderful panoramic views of the Charco Redondo Reservoir and the Sierra de Montecoche. The route passes next to an anthropomorphic tomb and a source of ferruginous waters that, according to popular belief, removed anemia. The trail ascends to a repopulated pine forest where a donkey enclosure is installed., animals considered essential for survival in the mountains until just a few years ago. The rich Mediterranean scrub accompanies some cave houses, inhabited until the beginning of the 70. We return again to the forest track, to descend until touching the shore of the reservoir, where depending on the water level, You can see a curious stone that reminds us of the half-buried skull of a giant dinosaur. The return is along a path parallel to the shore, between gall oaks and cork oaks. It is an ideal route to do with the family..
